WCA Twitterstorm: Child Mental Health funding requested by Campaign For Kids Coalition!

Join our Twitterstorm to raise up Children’s Mental Health in the Westchester County Budget!

This Wednesday, December 1st from 12 to 3 pm, please help us to amplify the need for more funding for mental health resources for children in the Westchester County 2022 Budget on social media.  Children are suffering during to this pandemic due to the loss of loved ones, housing and food insecurity, changing health crises, and more.  Almost one thousand parents responded to WCA’s Remote Learning survey to highlight the impact of isolation and remote learning on the mental wellbeing of school-age children.

We would greatly appreciate your help in using social media to reinforce the request by Campaign for Kids to the Westchester County Board of Legislators for additional $100,000 in funding to be set aside for Westchester County Youth Bureau to augment IIK agencies during the next RFP, with NEW additional mental health supports to be provided in the trusted afterschool programs.

How? Please share the following posts and attached images on Twitter on December 1st between 12 and 3 pm.  We also provided sample posts and graphics that can be used on Instagram, LinkedIn or Facebook.

Remember to tag us @WCA4kids with the hashtag #CampaignForKids

Why? To get funding or additional mental health providers and services for children that can provide services in trusted environments already developed in afterschool programs.  These programs will be accessible to children regardless of their health insurance status.

Children are suffering during this pandemic due to the loss of loved ones, housing, and food insecurity, changing health crises, and much more. Parents and families are crying out for more support to help them and prevent self-harm, depression, and – even worse – suicides among school-age children. Afterschool programs provide a safe space to get help and children can get support regardless of their health insurance status.
