Westchester Children’s Association (WCA), the only independent child advocacy organization in Westchester, will host the first “Commissioners’ Conversation” on Thursday, June 22nd and has invited county officials to participate. The event, open to the public, will be held at the Greenburgh Public Library (300 Tarrytown Rd, Elmsford, NY) from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
The goal of the “Commissioners’ Conversation” is to bring together county officials to discuss the preliminary release of numbers and information from WCA’s “2023 Westchester Children by the Numbers Data Bulletin,” a statistical portrait of the issues facing Westchester’s children today. The event will provide a platform for county officials to share their vision of how their department will work towards a better future for Westchester’s children, youth, and young adults. Representatives from the following departments will be present at the meeting: the Department of Community Mental Health, Department of Health, Department of Parks and Recreation, Department of Probation, Department of Social Services, and Westchester County Youth Bureau.
“This forum presents a significant opportunity for county officials to provide details supporting their goals and priorities for ensuring that every child in Westchester is healthy, safe and prepared for life’s challenges regardless of where they live in the county,” said Allison Lake, Executive Director of WCA. “ We are looking forward to conversation to align what the data presents to the priorities of the county.”
