As we all work in our organizations and communities to foster the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and support young people, we would like to share some events happening over the holiday weekend in order of occurrence.

  • January 18th @ 12 noon – African American Men of Westchester’s 20th Annual Legacy Youth Awards for four Albertina Bloom College Scholarships courtesy of The Westchester Community Foundation with remarks from: 
      • Andrea Stewart Cousins: New York State Senate Majority Leader
      • George Latimer: Westchester County Executive
      • Ken Jenkins: Deputy Westchester County Executive
      • Ben Boykin: Chairman of Westchester County Legislators
      • Jaoquin F. Alemany: Vice Chair of Directors – Westchester Community Foundation
      • Thomas Gabriel: President and CEO – United Way of Westchester and Putnam
      • Jane Solnick: Con Edison Director of Corporate Affairs
      • Ken Theobalds: Entergy Vice President of Government Affairs

  • January 19th all-day – National Day of Racial Hearing in Westchester (flyer below) – link to registerprovide a $200 stipend for each youth who takes on a leadership/facilitation role and helps to create the questions asked.
