WCA Hosted Second Annual Commissioners’ Conversation

On June 13, WCA hosted its second annual Commissioners’ Conversation on Children at the Greenburgh Public Library. More than one hundred community partners, policy makers and child advocates came together to listen to county government leadership discuss how their respective departments are working to improve outcomes for Westchester’s children. The event was covered by News 12, which helped amplify their messages and raised awareness of the strategies needed to reduce child poverty.

The panel, moderated by Limarie Cabrera, consisted of the following county government leaders, discussing the work they do for children:

  • Department of Community Mental Health – Commissioner Michael Orth
  • Department of Health – First Deputy Commissioner Renee Recchia
  • Department of Social Services – First Deputy Commissioner John Befus
  • Department of Probation – Commissioner Rocco A. Pozzi
  • Westchester-Putnam Career Center Network – Program Administrator – Youth Development Elizabeth Oliveto

The event was a huge success that brought together Government, Community Members and other important stakeholders in conversation about the challenges facing children in Westchester County and how we can work together to solve them.

The event was covered regionally by several media outlets:
