As we enter another election season, it’s crucial to remember that our children are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are our present. Westchester Children’s Association (WCA) believes that every election is an opportunity to prioritize the needs and well-being of children, ensuring they are at the forefront of the political agenda.

At WCA, we are committed to advocating for every child in Westchester County—regardless of race or zip code and with pressing issues like mental health concerns, child poverty, and homelessness on the rise, the need for dedicated advocacy has never been more urgent.

Our Vote for Kids Survey plays a vital role in this advocacy effort. Each election cycle, we conduct a nonpartisan survey of candidates running for public office in Westchester County. This survey focuses on their priorities and policy proposals related to the well-being of children and youth in our community. It’s not about supporting or opposing any candidate; rather, it’s about empowering voters with the information they need to make informed decisions.

By highlighting where candidates stand on issues affecting young people, we aim to elevate discussions around critical topics such as mental health services, child poverty and homelessness, and overall support for families. This survey serves as a platform for candidates to express their commitment to the future of our children, allowing voters to hold them accountable once they take office.

As citizens, we have a responsibility to ensure that the voices of our youngest community members are heard. When children’s issues are prioritized in political agendas, we pave the way for policies that can lead to healthier, safer, and more supportive environments for our youth. Our Vote for Kids survey helps shine a light on these essential issues, guiding voters in their decision-making process.

We wish we had stronger responses to share with you. WCA made many contacts to engage with candidates, and we encourage everyone to reach out and ask questions about their plans for addressing the challenges our youth face.
