Every year, Westchester Children’s Association hosts our annual Kathryn Wasserman Davis Lecture, the Advocacy Breakfast. We are happy to say that this year’s was one of our most successful! We hosted a record number of attendees, over 125, and had over 40 registrants for our Evening Advocacy session on Zoom.
Our incredible welcome speaker was Kerry King, Board Chair of the Research and Advocacy committee, and representing the WCA Board in the programming. Next, WCA Director of Data, Operations, and Finance, Limarie Cabrera, launched the “Mental Health Fact Sheet”, which presented the facts on mental health for youth and families in Westchester County. Aniyrah George provided the youth perspective from that morning.
Max Stossel, the founder & CEO of Social Awakening, was the event’s amazing Keynote Speaker, delivering a memorable and informative talk on youth mental health and social media. To contact him with further questions and comments, please fill out this form on his website!
WCA Executive Director, Allison Lake, closed out the morning, encouraging all guests to participate in the “Pledge for Mental Health Advocacy“. We are hoping reach 100 pledges, so please take yours now!
We thank all who attended and supported the morning, including our sponsors: Sun River Health, Westchester Medical Center, PCSB Bank, and New York Presbyterian. We were honored to be joined by several elected officials, including Legislators Nancy Barr, David Imamura, and Jewel Williams Johnson, Assemblyman Steve Otis, Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, State Senator Shelley Mayer, and Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins. We thank the County Board of Legislators for supporting WCA’s efforts to improve the mental health of school age children!

We hope to see you again at the next Advocacy Breakfast!
