For over a hundred years, Westchester Children’s Association has worked tirelessly to keep children at the top of the public agenda and keep families and young people informed each election season. After the 2020 election WCA launched Project Engage at the same time New York State passed legislation which granted 16- and 17-year-olds the ability to pre-register to vote. With each passing year, WCA has pushed to remind communities about each step of the voting process including registration deadlines, early voting days, and polling locations. Our eleventh annual Vote4Kids campaign is another example of our engagement efforts, where we publish responses from electoral candidates about their plans to support children, youth and young adults of Westchester.
These are polarized and challenging times we live in. As a nonpartisan organization, our goal is to champion policies that are best for Westchester’s children, regardless of who is in office. Voters and candidates care deeply about children and recognize that government has no greater responsibility than ensuring all children can grow, learn, develop, and realize their dreams. Government must support all families in their most important role — raising their children to live and succeed in the diverse world we live in today. Check out the responses to our 2024 Vote4Kids candidate survey to learn more.
Rest assured – no matter what the results of this election, WCA will be here with the same mission we have held for 110 years, to improve the lives of young people. WCA will lead with facts on the issues facing youth in the county and New York state. WCA will continue working with our partners to push for proven solutions to today’s societal problems. WCA will remain steadfast in our advocacy so that all children in Westchester are healthy, safe and prepared for lives challenges regardless of race or zip code.
WCA will never back down in keeping our promise to Westchester’s families. We encourage all to exercise their right to vote. Use any available resources such as our 2024 Vote4Kids candidate survey, or each candidate’s platform, to make a thoughtful decision about who to trust your vote with for the next few years. And we encourage all to join our mission and think of the children when voting- children cannot vote, you can!
