2016 Westchester County Budget Passed–Some Cuts Restored

Thank you to the over 240 advocates who sent close to 600 messages to County Executive Rob Astorino and members of the Board of Legislators. Because of all your calls, e-mails, tweets, and testimony a compromise for the 2016 Westchester County budget was reached that restored many of the cuts to most, but not all non-profits serving children, youth, and other vulnerable populations in Westchester.

We also thank our many non-profit partners who, along with 9 coalitions (Arts Westchester, Campaign for Kids, Community Voices Heard, Federated Conservationists of Westchester, Interfaith Clergy for Social Action, New York Immigration Coalition, NonProfit Westchester, Westchester NOW, Westchester Women’s Agenda) formed a super-coalition representing over 500 organizations and stood together to keep Westchester thriving. Together as a community, we were able to show the breadth of support for a budget that does not punish the poor, the vulnerable, the young and old, but rather commits public resources to programs and services that make our community stronger for all.
